What are the laser safety industry standards?

Laser safety standards mainly refer to the safety specifications and operating guidelines for laser equipment, designed to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment during the use of lasers.  International laser safety standards mainly include the following:


1. ANSI Z136 is a laser safety standard issued by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), similar to IEC60825-1, which also includes the classification, marking, safety distance, protective measures and other content of laser equipment. The difference is that ANSI Z136 also provides for the daily maintenance and safety management of laser equipment, and is a widely used laser safety standard in North America.


2.CE EN207 is one of the laser safety standards issued by the European Union, which mainly stipulates the design, testing and marking of laser protective glasses. The standard requiresthat laser protective goggles must be strictly tested to ensure that they can effectively protect the human eye from laser radiation. 


According to the CE EN207 standard, laser protective glasses need to meet the following requirements: 


1) Protection wavelength range: Laser protection glasses need to be designed and tested for specific wavelengths of laser, and different wavelengths of laser need to use the corresponding protective glasses. 


2) Optical density: Laser protective glasses need to have a certain optical density to ensure the protective effect. 


3) Field of view requirements: Laser protective glasses need to meet the corresponding field of view requirements to ensure that users have enough field of view at work. 


4) Durability and stability: Laser protective eyes need to have high stability in the environment. 


5) Identification requirements: Laser protective glasses need to mark relevant information on the product, including wavelength range, optical density, field of view and other information, so that users can correctly select and use in short, CE EN207 standard is the safety standard for laser protective glasses within the EU, through strict testing and requirements, Ensure that laser protective glasses effectively protect the user's eyes from laser radiation.
