Understanding Laser Safety and Wavelength

Lasers emit light at various wavelengths, from ultraviolet (UV) to infrared (IR). The wavelength of a laser determines how it interacts with the human eye and skin. At 1100nm, lasers operate in the near-infrared spectrum, which is invisible to the naked eye, and unlike visible light, infrared light, including that emitted by 1100nm lasers, can penetrate deeper into tissue, especially the eye. The primary concern with NIR lasers is retinal damage. At 1100nm, laser energy is absorbed by the retina and can cause vision impairment or even blindness if exposed to the laser.

What protection is required for 1100nm lasers?
