450 nm safety glasses do not provide 100% protection against all harmful blue light.
1. Wavelength limitation
These glasses are specifically designed to target light around the 450 - nanometer wavelength. Blue light, however, encompasses a range of wavelengths from approximately 400 - 500 nanometers. While they can be very effective at reducing the amount of 450 - nm blue light, they may not block other wavelengths of blue light as efficiently. For example, blue light at 420 nm or 480 nm may not be filtered out to the same extent.
2. Transmission of other wavelengths
Even for the 450 - nm wavelength, the glasses are usually not designed to block all of the light. Most safety glasses are calibrated to block a certain percentage (such as 60%, 80%, or 90%) of the 450 - nm light to balance protection with the need for clear vision. This means that some of the 450 - nm blue light can still pass through the lenses.
In addition, the glasses need to allow other wavelengths of visible light to pass through so that the wearer can see colors accurately and have a clear view of their surroundings. As a result, some blue light in the overall spectrum can still enter the eyes.
3. Quality and wear - and - tear factors
The quality of the lens coating and the manufacturing process can affect the effectiveness of the blue - light protection. Over time, the lens coating may wear off or become damaged, reducing its ability to block blue light. Also, if the glasses do not fit properly, light can leak in from the sides, allowing unfiltered blue light to reach the eyes.
Our hot selling product — LP-GHP laser safety glasses and LP-GHP-2 laser safety glasses are both protective band covering the entire blue light wavelength, and our protective glasses are absorptive, even if the surface of the lens is scratched, it will not affect the protection effect, and it has passed the EU CE certification.
